It is amazing to hear how the trail provides! I love the amount of kindness you are experiencing. Pudding seems a fitting trail name to me. Unexpected and a bit quirky, indeed. Stay safe!

Congratulations! Jim Kean mentioned one of the toughest parts of his PCT adventure was at the very beginning in the desert. Staying hydrated was a challenge.

I think we were in different situations. For a variety of reasons, I wasn't able to start until May 1st. As well, it wasn't quite the snow year as Gib will have. The California aquifers get really pumped up during the winter and early spring so the desert is really green and all of the seasonal springs are running. By the time I started (wouldn't recommend it), most of the springs were receding and the distance between water was substantial at times.

Watching your progress...best wishes and hopefully we'll see you on the trail.

About setting a tent up in the rain....yep miserable. I ended up carrying a footprint for our Big Agnes Cooper tent specifically so I could setup Footprint+Fly+Poles in rain, then carefully setup dry inner inside while protected. Takes a while and requires a game of twister, but can be done even with two people under the fly if motivated by severe weather.

Thanks! Sitting down for lunch at Paradise Cafe now. We have same tent with footprint. Will try your twister technique next time.

Pudding and KarMMa! I like 'em. Shows another side to Gib for sure! I'm missing you. You were such fun to have as my guests and I try not to get attached to hikers I may never see again but I'm hoping we will have a reunion next fall and share adventure stories and photos. I'm supporting you so reach out if there is any way I can help. Happy Trails! Chery (trail name Mountain Mama!)

Yay Mountain Mama! Many thanks to you and Lynn. Kristen hopes to visit again in fall and wants to intro you someday to long Covid physicians in San Diego re: unique therapies you could offer to patients. Thanks again! Pudding

Thanks Gib! I look forward to following your hike and to a visit from Kristen and her friend next fall. The hikers are on your tail now...more coming through every day. The weather is holding after some high winds yesterday today was sunny but still kinda cold...50 degrees! Happy Trails! MM
