Grit, resourcefulness & the generosity of both thru-hikers & trail angels combine to get a 30 year-old hiker to the hospital. We’re now halfway up WA state with 1,900 total miles under our belt.
Fantastic update! Your adventure, the rescues and the characters would make for a great book! I identified strongly with 5-Star's shoulder dislocation. I had a bad one on a glacier in France. The pain factor is through the roof. I wish I would have had a tramily to help me because the french ski patrol were completely indifferent to my suffering, and then the medical team was pretty much incompetent. In the end, they smashed me across the face to distract me when they re-located my shoulder. Brutal. Love how your tramily and trail angels help you out and how you two help as giving/loving tramily members yourselves. I thought the recurring Vizla was one of my favorite characters, but now I have to go with Stonehenge. As always, thanks for sharing...really enjoying your missives.
Phenomenal story! What luck "3 to 4 Snaps" found YOU TRAIL ANGELS! Drugs are good but yes, the power of the mind is very strong indeed. In nursing school I spent a day with a young man in the burn unit--we took a minds-eye -ski-day together when he went into his first scrub session. It was very powerful. Thanks for taking us along on this journey. I look forward to seeing you this fall. Love.
What an AMAZING update! The SUSPENSE was unimaginable. Thank you SO very much for sharing ALL of this with ALL of us! Note to the author: Pictures complete the story! Thank you for posting! YOU 2 ARE AN AMAZING TEAM!
Excellent update, read as a page turner at 2:30am in a bout of insomnia. 3-Snaps, now 4-Snaps, is a warrior, KarMMa is a hero, and you and all others involved are the best of humanity. What all of you thru-hikers are doing is enthralling in and of itself, but learning the backstories of the individuals you’ve met on the trail is equally fascinating. Colorful characters indeed. From outside looking in you’re living your best life.
And I must add, as someone recently removed from 30 years in the PNW, I’m with you in mind and heart as you pass through areas and towns familiar to me.
Incredible. The kindness, resourcefulness, quick-thinking, and tenacity of KarMMa and Pudding shine through on the trail again, as has been the case throughout their lives. Thanks for sharing your experiences throughout this adventure. On to Canada!
We’re 300 miles from the southern Washington border and have 200 miles until the northern terminus. Washington is challenging with lots of ups and downs— there are no flat stretches
It sounds like the terminus is 100 miles south of the Washington border but it continues in Washington???
I think the PCT through WA is about 500 miles long. Cascade Locks is at the south edge— 300 miles behind us— and the northern terminus of the PCT is 200 miles north of us— right at the Canadian border. Did I get the math wrong? Gib
Sorry. Now I get it. When you said you were 300 miles from the southern Washington border, I thought you were in Oregon and 300 miles to go to get to the Washington border. Now it makes a lot more sense.
I agree with Dave, you’re trail saints! Fantastic read! 😊
Thanks!

So good.
Journeyed to Stehikin on a seaplane with Mark. One classroom school, no internet. Beautiful hikes. Saw a bear.
Stayed in Levenworth years ago.
At the Stehekin Valley Ranch now!
Loved Leavenworth
Nice to read the whole story to fill in the instagram posts! Enjoy the rest of WA!
Thanks!

Brilliant post Gib.
Thanks! Gib
Another Pudding? Amazing!
The two of us are working together to reconstitute the jello pudding brand, post Bill Cosby.
Fantastic update Pudding. Crazy story about 3-Snaps. Love that Barkley returned. And so fun that you met Pudding jr. Walk on!
Thanks for reading! Gib
THIS UPDATE WAS PACKED!!!!

I am amazed you didn’t have to carry 3-snaps.
